Low Back Pain
At 4 Life physiotherapy back pain is the most common injury we encounter and our expert therapists have a proven track record at getting great results. Appropriate early management, a comprehensive assessment, and an individually tailored treatment and rehabilitation program are the keys to a great outcome.
Lower back pain is an extremely common condition affecting people of all ages and activity levels. Up to 80% of the population will experience back pain at some time during the lives, and although the underlying pathology of back pain is usually not serious, it is an important cause of pain and dysfunction in the community. Whilst the vast majority of patients with back pain will recover within 6 weeks, a small number will go on to develop chronic back pain and experience a gradual deterioration in their functionality.
The recurrence rate of low back pain is high with 44% of people suffering a recurrence within a year of their initial injury, and 90% within their lifetime. The reason this rate is so high is that most treatments just focus on the symptoms of back pain, such as pain and stiffness, but neglect the underlying causes of the injury and as such fails to adequately rehabilitate the back.
The 4 Life Physiotherapy Difference
At 4 Life Physiotherapy we take the time to thoroughly assess your back injury to determine the underlying source of your pain and all contributing factors, not just your symptoms. The research tells us that “recipe” or “band aid” type treatments are not overly effective in the management of back pain. Here at 4 life physiotherapy we take a holistic approach to all back problems and offer a variety of treatment techniques to get the best results. We understand that no two people are the same and no two back injuries are the same. That is why our management plans are individually tailored to the specific needs and goals of each of our patients so that they get the best outcome for their injury.
We don’t simply aim to reduce your pain but stop it from coming back. As such we consider and provide advice on all factors that attribute to back pain. These may include muscle imbalances, poor biomechanics, lack of exercise / sedentary lifestyles, postural problems, poor technique, and stress. Our specially trained therapists are also experts in bad work practices and superiorly positioned to provide ergonomic advice to assist in your recovery.
